The Tres de Abril Stamp
initiated the first Cebu sponsored stamp, the Tres de Abril Stamp.
On June 12, 1998, the Tres de Abril stamp was released by the Philippine Postal Corporation as part of the Centenary of Philippine Independence Series 6 Souvenir Sheet.
The Cebuano Revolutionaries led by Pantaleon Villegas also known as Leon Kilat defeated the Spanish troops on April 3, 1898 in the historic battle of Tres de Abril in Cebu City.

Cebu Stamp Club's "Selyo At Kasaysayan.. A Retrospective of Filipino Heroes Through Stamps" will be in selected schools and universities in Cebu soon. This exhibit opened at the Library lobby of Silliman University, Dumaguete City on August 23-26, 2008 and at the Lower Ground Floor of SM City Cebu last August 28-31, 2008.
